I’d been saying for ages, “I really need to sell my LEGO.” The tubs were stacked in the loft, the boxes were crammed under the bed, and every time I opened a cupboard a pile of bricks looked back at me. That’s when it really hit me: on some sets, there can be a massive difference between what one buyer and another is willing to pay. If I hadn’t checked, I’d have posted off a complete LEGO set for around £18 when someone else was happy to pay £54 for the same thing. That’s the difference between feeling ripped off and feeling like you’ve made a smart decision when you sell your LEGO.

The emotional side matters too. When you decide “I’m going to sell my LEGO,” you’re not just clearing out plastic. You’re letting go of birthdays, Christmas mornings, weekend builds and late nights hunting for that one missing piece. Seeing those memories valued at what feels like scrap price hurts. That first low quote made me feel like my whole collection was being treated like random bulk bricks in a bin, rather than complete sets I’d looked after.

But once I’d seen the £54 offer, everything changed. I realised you don’t have to accept the first number that flashes up on your screen. Now, when friends tell me they’re ready to sell their LEGO, I tell them the same thing: your bricks are worth more than scrap. Type in your set numbers, compare offers, and make sure you’re dealing with someone who values your LEGO like a proper collection. If you’re going to say “I’m ready to sell my LEGO,” at least make sure you’re not giving it away for pennies when you could be getting up to 5 times more just by checking.
